Project T-Dot At Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

Presented by Nieuport Aviation and sponsored by Sony Music Entertainment Canada, Project T-Dot is now available at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

This unique exhibit, featuring Ajani Charles’ 18-year-old documentary project on Toronto’s hip-hop culture, community, and history, Project T-Dot, is part of the 2024 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival and is available past the underground tunnel, specifically in the airport’s passenger terminal’s atrium.

Project T-Dot is the largest art installation ever at the airport and is free for everyone, requiring no airline ticket or entrance fee.

Open daily from 5:00 AM to 11:59 PM EST, this bilingual exhibit (French and English) is fully accessible to the general public and millions of travellers until early 2025.

Following the success of Ajani Charles’ first solo Project T-Dot exhibit at Toronto City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square in 2022, this exhibit continues to explore Toronto's dynamic and diverse hip-hop scene.

It features 60 large-scale black and white vinyl prints and a 55-inch touchscreen, featuring extensive content on the city's hip-hop scene by the end of February 2024. It is the first global database on a major city's hip-hop community.

The exhibit features notable figures, including but not limited to Baby Yu, Boi-1da, Chris Bosh, Click, Director X, Drake, Future The Prince, Haviah Mighty, Jessie Reyez, Jonathan Ramos, Jully Black, Kardinal Offishall, Killy, Lissa Monet, Maestro Fresh Wes, Marlon Palmer, Mastermind, Master T, Monika Deole, Moses Znaimer, Ron Nelson, SAFE, Shawn Desman, SKAM, Skratch Bastid, Smoke Dawg, Starting From Scratch, TOBi, The Weeknd, and Tyrone Edwards, and influential organizations, including but not limited to 100 Miles Brand, Advance Music Canada, Bag of Trix, Battle of The Beatmakers, Flow 93.5, Do Dat Entertainment, Ground Illusionz, Honey Jam, Hong Shing Restaurant, Justice Fund, Manifesto Community Projects, MuchMusic, Play De Record, October's Very Own, Operation Prefrontal Cortex, Roots Rhymes Collective, The Circle, The Forgiveness Project, The Remix Project, The Toronto Raptors, and Too Black Guys.

It will eventually showcase over 120 personalities and numerous organizations, detailing their contributions to Toronto's hip-hop culture.

This monumental project, captured by photographer Ajani Charles, is a testament to Toronto's vibrant hip-hop scene.

It results from 18 years of dedication and collaboration between committed partners, including the City of Toronto, PortsToronto, and Canon Canada.
