Fabricators

FABRICATORS: Art being the lie that leads us to the truth, we present an exhibit that inquires into the illusion that illuminates. We are a group of artists whose practices are very dissimilar but woven together by referencing textiles and the making of garments. The objects we display, though, are not for wearing. Sheila Thompson brings together her experience in botanical fieldwork and her knowledge of felting and dyeing to create topographies of our climate future and our sociopolitical past. Tom Beechinor is a poet and visual artist whose sewing machine sound sculpture accompanies a narrative poem of the end times. Beverley Daniels weaves not garments but city grids from city garbage. All three of these artists make objects that appear to be one thing but upon closer inspection reveal themselves to be something else more exploratory and questioning. Join us at the Leslie Grove Gallery from Wednesday, April 19th to Sunday, April 30th, open from 12-5 PM. Opening reception on Saturday, April 22nd, 2-5 PM.
