As the first signs of a spring thaw hit Toronto, one of the first major transformations takes place on the Toronto Islands. A rugged winter wonderland if there ever was one, the above zero temperatures free the ice-crusted trees and make the ferry's passage from the mainland much easier. These are welcome changes, but one of the casualties of the seasonal change is the beauty of the place.
