Hotel Tonight launched in Toronto today. The popular mobile app (available for the iPhone and Android) offers last minute one-night deals to hotels in various cities across North America. Canada marks the first country outside the US to be included in the app with deals being offered today in both Toronto and Vancouver. Participating hotels in Toronto so far are slim pickings with only The Thompson and the Cosmopolitan currently represented in the app.

Hotel Tonight feels a bit like the ongoing sales at Shelter Furniture. Deep discounts on rates of 70% are promised, but the reality is that average discounts are only in the 30-35% range. Given that many hotels usually have discounts of at least 25% off on various other deal web sites, the last minute rates at Hotel Tonight seem less like a great deal but rather ones just to keep an eye on.

For now, Hotel Tonight is offering Canadian travelers an additional $25 off their first booking by using the promo code CANADA25, which will work at any of the Toronto and Vancouver hotels.
