World Cup 2010

Toronto's World Cup Warriors: The Englishman

The team: England

World Cup history: Won the World Cup once, on home turf in 1966.

Group games: United States (June 12, 2:30 pm), Algeria (June 18, 2:30 pm), Slovenia (June 23, 10 am).

The fan: David Mason, age 30.

Occupation: Associate Director, Member Services.

Favourite player: Wayne Rooney (when he's in-form).

How far do you think your team will go in the tournament?: My head says the semi-finals, my heart says all the way!

What's the key to your team's success this year?: A strong back four, Wayne Rooney keeping his hot streak alive, and Frank Lampard not screwing the pooch each time he's called on to take a penalty.

Where will you be watching the games?: The Elephant and Castle at King and Simcoe.

Any pre-game rituals?: Full English breakfast, get kitted out in my England gear, and make sure there's a pint waiting for me at the bar.

Which team is your most hated rival and why?: That's got to be Argentina for the famous 'Hand of God' goal where England were knocked out of the World Cup due to a goal scored by Maradona punching the ball into the net. Also Germany for WWII, that was bad too.
