Dolce 21
Dolce 21 is an ice cream shop in Pacific Mall that's known for its extremely Instagrammable desserts. Located on the sprawling Asian mall's first floor, the store is a takeout-only space. There are no seats, but the counter space is adorned with props for you to set up the perfect photo.
I start by ordering two different kinds of soft serve. The first is the one that I've seen countless times on Instagram: the Cotton Candy. For this, I get a mix of green tea and vanilla soft serve, topped with a gigantic fluffy cotton candy. Dolce 21 rotates its cotton candy flavours weekly, with this one being a deliciously sweet watermelon flavour.
Next up is the Honey Comb ($6.95). This time I'm pairing it with just the vanilla ice cream, which is interestingly light blue in colour (it's called the "Tiffany Vanilla"). Adorned with Koala March cookies and a chunk of real honeycomb, it's a simpler take on this classic dessert, one which I find to be less overwhelming in both size and flavour complexity.
Stepping away from the ice cream zone, I try a selection of Dolce 21's shakes. Dubbed "Candy Shake Shake," these thick beverages are blended with a generous helping of a well-known candy bar of your choosing. I go for the Maltesers Shake ($4.50) - it's sweet but less thick than I expected/ It really is like drinking a Malteser smoothie. And that's alright in my books.
The Ferrero Rocher Shake ($4.95), as the name suggests, is bits of the namesake chocolate blended into the milkshake. For me, the flavour of a Ferrero Rocher is too pronounced when consumed in liquid form, and I find the final product a bit too sweet for my liking.
On the lighter side, the Green Day ($5.25) is straight from their Detox Juice selection. It's made with cucumber, pineapple, green pepper, apple, and broccoli and is definitely the most refreshing drink I try here.
