Erin Stump Projects
Erin Stump Projects is now in its third Toronto iteration, having first opened on West Queen West before moving north to Dundas and now to Dupont. This is a fairly similar story, as the galleries tend to stick together but also seek out competitive rent in spaces that are well suited for the display of work.
Along with the location changes, the gallery has transformed over the years. When Erin Stump started out, the focus was very much on emerging artists -- those who had recently completed art school -- but the gallery has grown with its artists, now showcasing those who have already established solid art careers.
When asked about the move to Dupont, Stump notes that the foot traffic has been about as high as it was on Dundas West, surely an encouraging sign. This space is also three times bigger than the last, which offers a great deal more freedom when installing and storing work.
