The Humber Cinema to re-open April 29th

The Humber Cinema, at Jane and Bloor, will finally re-open this week after sitting shuttered since 2003. The Globe and Mail posted details this weekend - an article well worth a read for those interested in learning more about its revival. Still, from the outside it looks like not much has changed at the Humber. Showtimes are not yet posted, the windows and doors are papered over and it generally just looks the same way it has been for the past seven years.

I spoke to the theatre's new operator, Rui Pereira (who also is the General Manager of the Kingsway), this morning who assured me the launch date is firm. But no special opening night celebrations or ribbon cutting is planned. They'll just be launching with a simple screening (showtimes are pending) of Fast Five, a new flick starring Vin Diesel and The Rock.

Screening info and more will be added to the Humber Cinema web site later this week.
