Hellboy's back

Fans of Hellboy - in either movie or comic book form - will be happy to learn that there will be a special screening of the new movie, Hellboy: Sword of Storms, at the Bloor Cinema tomorrow night. The film is the first of a series of animated feature films featuring the giant red demon with the stone hand, from Hellboy (comic) creator Mike Mignola and Hellboy (movie) creator Guillermo del Toro.

Del Toro is being celebrated all around the world for his 2006 masterwork, Pan's Labyrinth, and is currently prepping a live-action sequel to Hellboy - called The Golden Army - for a 2008 release. In the meantime, he and Mignola have collaborated on Sword of Storms and its follow-up, Blood and Iron. Is that enough Hellboy for ya?

Sword of Storms played on the Cartoon Network in the States, and is being released on DVD on February 7th, but the 7:00 screening at the Bloor tomorrow night is one of the rare instances in which it will be viewable on a big screen. It features the voices of the cast of the original movie, and based on the film's official site, gotohellboy.com, it looks freakin' gorgeous. Can't wait to see it!
