Above and Beyond Film Shoot

Front Street was closed between Bay and Yonge earlier this week because the miniseries Above and Beyond was shooting. The series is being produced for the CBC by NF's Pope Productions and Toronto's Shaftesbury FIlms.

The miniseries, written by John W. Doyle and Lisa Porter, and director by Sturla Gunnarsson, tells the story of civilian Newfies getting planes to the Royal AIr Force during WWII. The narrative drive and personal elements are provided by a focus on a woman who's in a relationship with an Aussie pilot but happens to get a little infatuated with an American during the execution of the save-the-British action.

Broadcast is tentatively set for November of this year, but who knows what will happen, what with the lockout and all. - Incidentally, you can find the CBC's official lockout position here, and the employees position here.
