2016 TORONTO CHINATOWN FESTIVAL
The 2016 Toronto Chinatown Festival takes place on Saturday, August 20th (12pm-11pm) and Sunday, August 21st (11am-8pm) in Toronto Chinatown. It is an annual street festival featuring Asian and international street foods, dragon and lion dances, martial arts and entertainment performances.
Our theme this year is Legend of the Dragon. We want to tell stories about the most significant mythical creature in Chinese culture. Dragons are often associated with the royal family and higher beings, and they are referenced in Chinese fiction, dance, architecture, etc.
As one of the largest Chinatowns in North America, Toronto Chinatown is home to descendants and immigrants from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, and many other Southeast Asian countries. By showcasing Canada’s cultural and communal diversity, we hope that our visitors will get a taste of Asian culture right in the heart of downtown Toronto at the 2016 Toronto Chinatown Festival!
