diner en blanc 2016

All-white dinner party returns to Toronto this summer

Diner en Blanc is now a staple summertime event in Toronto. And for 2016, it'll transform an undisclosed public location into a monochrome dinner party on Thursday, August 18.

The annual dinner in white, now celebrating its fifth year in Toronto, isn't for the faint of heart. If you sign up, attendance for you and your guest is mandatory. You must also wear elegant, all-white (not ivory or cream) attire and bring along a foldable square table, two white chairs and a gourmet meal.

If that's too much to schlep, you can always pre-order a catered picnic basket from the Food Dudes.

Registration happens in three phases, starting with those who attended last year and followed by their friends (or referrals). Afterwards, newbies will be allowed to sign up - you can get on the waiting list now.

Diner en Blanc started in Paris, France back in 1988. It has spread to cities around the world, including many in Canada. In Toronto, these dinners have popped up in locations such as Fort York, a parking lot at Queen and Mutual and at Ontario Place.
