Thanksgiving dinner in Toronto, as elsewhere, seems to be the benchmark of domestic prowess. Between the turkey, the stuffing, the mashed potatoes (or yams), and the innumerable other details to tend to, it's at best a headache, and at worst license to cancel the dinner entirely. Fortunately, several restaurants around the city have put the onus on their experienced kitchens to whip up special Thanksgiving menus, allowing you to focus on the true meaning of the holiday rather than getting bogged down by the oven.

Edward Levesque's Kitchen
On Sunday, $38 (per person) will get you a three-course turkey dinner, including roasted turkey breast with gravy, your choice of three sides (such as sweet potato roasted with sage and onions and sweet and sour root vegetables) and berry and apple crumble or a pumpkin tart for dessert.

Globe Bistro
Globe is taking Monday off, but they're serving a weekend-long brunch and dinner Thanksgiving prix fixe. For $35, you can choose between roasted parsnip soup or an autumn vegetable salad; butternut gnocchi or free run Ontario turkey with red fife stuffing; and squash cake with cream cheese icing or pear and plum crumble.

Peartree Restaurant
Peartree lets you choose when you'd like to indulge in the ultimate turkey feast (from Saturday to Monday), and offers up a set Thanksgiving dinner ($22) with all the requisite fixings. Think butternut squash soup, roasted turkey with apple sage stuffing (and gravy), mashed potatoes, a buttermilk biscuit, and yes, pumpkin pie.

EPIC Restaurant at the Fairmont Royal York
If you want to enjoy your traditionally rustic dinner in truly opulent surroundings, check out EPIC's four-course prix fixe ($79), available on Sunday and Monday. This one most certainly requires reservations, but promises quite a spread, including rumoured butternut squash bisque, salad, turkey with stuffing and cranberry chutney, and a beautiful pumpkin mousse.

Veloute Bistro
If you haven't yet committed to the idea of spending Thanksgiving outside your home, you can opt for Veloute's dine-in or take-out option. You should definitely call ahead to reserve for Sunday and Monday, with options such as roasted pumpkin soup ($10), pecan tarts ($7), and of course, turkey (either breast, legs, or the whole damn bird). If you're not feeling turkey, you can opt for the duck a l'orange.

Barque Smokehouse
Barque is offering up their own take on Thanksgiving dinner on their regularly scheduled Monday family night. $30 per person will get you some manner of turkey (confit is a good bet), dessert, salad, and sides. Reservations are strongly recommended as there are two seatings, 5:30 pm and 8pm, and they fill up quickly.

Tomorrow (October 5), Scott Vivian gets ahead of the pack with a Thanksgiving edition of Beastwich--beginning at 12pm, $10 gets you a sandwich, side, and dessert, with vegetarian options available.
