Your Jerrold-less morning news roundup for Tuesday January 8th, 2008:

Remember when you thought "Man, that parking ticket I got is total bull poo!" Well, it might non-literally be actual bull poo! Should the Municipal Parking Authority really have any authoritah, at all?

Canadians to get taxed for their carbon emissions? "That sounds like a liberal idea," to Canadian Environment Minister John Baird.

It may be pouring rain in the T-Dot right now, but that doesn't mean that the holiday spirit is lost on our city's residents. While it may be similar to their decorations last year (covered in Tanja's glowTO series) free to enjoy the above video that's all fresh and sparkly. BlogTO sends their condolences to this house's neighbours.

Another video (of more of the same, but closer up and walkin' around the house's area) after the jump, and thanks to Youtube user Rulyov for uploading these!

The Drake has a Party in a Box, Minus the Dick

ooo! I just thought of one! No, wait..... it's gone.
Psst, didja see what I did with the title up there? Didja see? Oh yea... I went there.

The holidays are usually associated with a number of cherished past times like unwanted visits from family, forcing a smile at the "Magic Bag" neck warmer present your aunt buys for you, and lots of egg nog (preferably with less of the egg and more of the nog). Regardless of your daytime activities, though, Santa's cooked up a little something for you to do in the nights following the paganistic celebration of all things present related. Between the 26th and the 30th the Drake is playing host to TWENTY-EIGHT acts with its series What's in the Box?, and each night is only gonna cost you a fiver.

With apologies to my mother in law (hi Jo!), I'm itchin' to get my twitch on next week. Hit the jump for a list of all the acts with links to their splendiferous music so you can plan your nights of sorrow drowning ASAP.

vidTO: Pedal Power VS Toronto Police

From the Youtube description, posted by Kittykate8:
Michel de Broin, an artist, had totally stripped down a 1986 Buick Regal and outfitted it with 4 independent pedal and gear mechanisms. This was part of 'art' piece being exhibited at the Mercer Union Gallery (24 October - 8 December).
Anyway, the police noticed the car's test drive and thought to pull it over and check it out.

See folks, at least this "art" didn't cause a frickin' AIDS charity drive to get canceled by some feckwit. And look Ma'! NO TASERS!

Boyfriend and Gas Station are Milton Samurai's Latest Victims

Oh, and our car only takes diesel fuel, that a problem for you guys?
Let it be known to the male halves of couples everywhere; it's inevitable that you'll have the occasional heated argument with your better half, so it would probably be a good idea if you didn't have any Bushido blades mounted on your living room walls.

After slicing into her boyfriend's head and arm, The Milton Samurai traveled across the street to a Petro gas station in front of her apartment where she started smashing windows, later cutting into an off-duty firefighter who tried to intervene. Samurai never were as discreet as their stealth-oriented distant cousins.

Sadly, there weren't any pictures of Samurai in the blogTO Flickr pool, so the above Samurai Pizza Cat fanart from deviant artist Lastscionz will have to do. And ya, this was on the 'Brew this morning, but how often will I get a chance to lol-cat the Samurai Pizza Cats? Not often enough!

Youtuber Julian Cardozo's nifty Toronto-Tetris mashup video found its way into the blogTO Youtube Pool. Sure, it doesn't display much technical mastery of Adobe Aftereffects, but it's his first try with the software so I can forgive him. Afterall, it's Alexey Pajitnov's genre-defining game getting busy with Toronto's skyline! That lovely Korobeiniki tune has been stuck in my head for almost 20 years now!

What's kinda dumb is that he says the flick's copyright is owned by Ryerson. Dude, no it isn't. You made it (The Tetris Company LLC's rights notwithstanding), not Ryerson. If Ryerson demands that the copyrights of all works from its students be attributed to the school, then tell'em to go eff themselves in the ear.
