Gallery Space: Shojo Manga!

Sept 1st - This week in the Gallery Space...

The Japan Foundation (131 Bloor W, 2nd flr) presents Shojo Manga! Girl Power!: Girls' Comics from Japan. Show touring exhibit September 6th and features the work of more than 200 works by 23 artists, exploring relationships, love, sex, and women's self-representation. Opening reception on the 6th is going to feature a lecture by curator, Dr. Masami Toku and requires an rsvp: 416-966-1600 x600.

Other shows opening this week:

At the Arta Gallery (Building 9, Distillery Dist), Form and Fluidity opens tonight at 5pm, featuring the work of Canadian painter and scultpor, David Meekison. Exhibit runs all long weekend.

Over at the Steam Whistle Brewing Co (255 Bremner Blvd), the Permanent Art Collection is going up from September 6th - October 1st. Over the past six or so years, Steam Whistle has been collecting artwork as if offered up its space as a gallery to local artists, so this is pretty much a best-of-rest show for them featuring all their favourites.
