Book Scene: TTC Tips, Author Events, D.I.Y

Last week, (May 2nd) TTC rider published their new Unorthodox Tips for Riding the TTC. Need to shave thirteen seconds off your ride? Want to know how best to align yourself with the orange dots along the wall? How to get a seat during rush hour?

You can read it free online here or get the booklet for 4$ here.

This Tuesday, literary spouses Mr. and Mrs. Boyden (Amanda and Joseph, if they know you) are being interviewed by James Grainger (of the Quill & Quire) as part of TINARS.

And since it's not a reading series, you can also check out a magic performance from The Great Giffoni. At the Gladstone (7-10pm), free.

Wednesday, you can check out Peter Carey at the Harbourfront Centre where he'll talk about Theft - his latest novel. He'll also be chatted up by John Bentley Mays. (7:30pm)

And if you're feeling a little more D.I.Y. Toronto Women's Bookstore is offering an intro to 'zines course this month, with maker of The Fence Cheryl Dobinson. Tuesdays from 6:30-9 at TWB, 52$ (on a sliding scale). Pre-registration required.
