Toronto designers create ballsiest bike light around

Bike lights might not be particularly sexy from a design standpoint, but given the important role they play in rider safety, there's no reason why they don't deserve a little love. Enter Scott Bodaly and Heather Lam (the folks behind the National Design Collective). They've created what is, in their words, "the world's most overconfident bike light."

Yes, it looks like balls. But that's the genius of the invention. As the light bobs back and forth, it's far more visible than a static-mounted version. As for the inspiration, the product's Kickstarter explains that "it takes grit, wit, and huge balls to ride in the city so show 'em what you got!"

Over and above the cachet of the design, the extra surface area of light that get from the way that the LED is encased in a silicone shell rather than conveyed as a pinpoint makes this a product that's very much safety-focused. The more light there is, the safer you are. Who knew that an illuminated set of facsimile testicles could be so useful?
