Beer cans banned at Rogers Centre for Jays playoff run

There won't be any beer cans in the stands at the Rogers Centre tonight when the Jays try to close out the Texas Rangers in game three of ALDS. The team announced today that all beer sold at the stadium will be served in cups for the remainder of the 2016 playoffs.

The decision comes after a fan threw a can at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim as he was tracking a fly ball in the American League wild card game on October 4. It's worth noting, however, that beer cans were also a problem at the Rogers Centre in last year's ALDS against the Rangers.

Cans were banned in the 500 level as a response to that incident, but the attention this year has been far more intense. There's no word yet on whether's today's decision will carry over into the regular season next year.
