Andre De Grasse wins silver medal at Rio Olympics

Andre De Grasse almost stunned the world tonight, falling to two time defending champion Usain Bolt in the final of the 200m at the Rio Olympics. The Scarborough born De Grasse was widely expected to contend for a medal after the blistering bromance in the semis.

De Grasse clocked in at 20.02. Bolt was at 19.78, well short of his personal best and world record 19.19 time set back in 2009 in Berlin. Prior to the games he had suggested he might be the first athlete to break the 19 second barrier in the distance.

De Grasse clearly has a bright upside and will likely be the favourite to win gold in both the 200 and 100 metres at the 2020 games in Tokyo.
