7 Brimley Road Toronto

This tiny $200K houseboat in Toronto could be the best real estate deal out there

When it comes to living in Toronto there aren't a lot of options for affordable housing.

Rent prices are reaching new heights, housing prices are still absurdly high, and condo prices aren't looking much better

So what's a human gotta do to stay afloat in this city? Well, get a boat of course!

Listed for just $199,000, is this one-bedroom, one-bathroom houseboat, named "Betty White." (Side note: HOW AWESOME IS THE NAME?!?!)

The kitchen is on the main floor of the boat.

The boat isn't super large – it's under 500-square-feet – but there's everything you need from a kitchen to a bathroom and even a living space with enough room for a pull-out couch.

An oil radiator is included, as well as the piping for a pellet stove.

The kitchen is modern with herringbone butcher-block counters, a double sink and full-sized appliances so you don't have to sacrifice anything. There's also enough room off the kitchen to create a small dining space if you wanted.

The living room with the pull-out couch for guests.

The living room is narrow but gets lots of light thanks to the large window with a view.

The bedroom.

The bedroom, which is over the living room, is cozy but big enough for at least a double bed.

The home spans two-levels.

And while many houseboats are only livable in the warmer months, the realtor notes in the listing that the current owner has been living here through every season for several years.

A full stove for cooking up your meals.

If you're new to the boat life, you'll also be pleased to know the owner is available to answer any onboarding questions you may have.

And if you don't love 7 Brimley Road South as your permanent docking space, the boat can be moved. It's just currently out of the water for showings and inspections, says realtor Natalie Sydoruk.

But if you don't want to move, the marina has a great community and taxes are included in the monthly mooring fees. Maintenance fees run about $600 a month, but can vary depending on the season.

This might just be the best affordable housing deal going in Toronto right now!
