Hawksley Workman bringing one-man cabaret show to Toronto

It may not be happening until next June, but this is pretty big new for fans of Hawksley Workman and musical theatre. The multi-talented singer-songwriter is taking his play The God That Comes on the road this fall, making several stops across Canada. But next June, he'll be starting a residency in Toronto at the Tarragon Theatre. The show is 
a theatrical tribute to Bacchus, the Greco-Roman god of wine and ecstasy," and sees Workman perform all the roles and songs — this is a one-man show in every sense of the word (though it was co-written with Christian Barry). The play has received wide-spread acclaim, and its previous showing in Toronto in August of 2012 was met with a rave review from the Toronto Star. It's not often that you get to see a true living legend take the stage, and that's exactly what will be happening at Massey Hall on Thursday night. B.B. King, arguably the greatest blues musician of all time, is still touring at the age of 88 (!!), and this is your opportunity to see one of the true masters of the guitar in action. Tickets for this one are nearly sold-out — when I tried to get two seats side-by-side, I had no luck. So if you want to check this one out, grab your ticket fast.

While I'm not much of a fan of Streetsville's favourite sons, Billy Talent, I certainly respect all that they've accomplished in their career. For a time they were considered by some to be one of the biggest bands in Canada, if not the world. They even played the ACC earlier this year, something that's usually reserved for only the biggest bands.
