Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies - Big Ass Coke Freak?

If I had $1,000,000 I could pay BNL's Steven Page's bail 100 times

Oh, how the mighty fall! It seems Steven Page, squeaky clean front man for the squeaky clean Scarborough band Barenaked Ladies, ran afoul of the authorities in upstate New York and has been charged with possession of cocaine.

As luck and irony would have it, the arrest comes as BNL celebrate the release of their first full-length album for children, Snack Time. There's no word yet from Disney whether this will affect BNL's participation in the Disney Music Block Party / PLAYSKOOL Play Aid Benefit Concert on Long Island later this summer.

It appears that Page and an American female were partying like rock stars in the quaint little village of Fayetteville, New York near Syracuse on Friday when their actions aroused the suspicions of the local authourities who just happened to be looking through the window at the time.

According to Capt. Bill Bleyle of the Manlius Police Department in New York State, "It looked like they were engaged in something."

That something turned out to be drugs. A capsule full of white powder turned out to be cocaine, and a search of the premises turned up more coke as well as some marijuana, presumably to help take the edge off.

A short while later, another female resident of the crime scene who was not there at the time was also arrested on related charges.

BNL's manager, Terry McBride, has declined to comment while the matter is still before the courts. Page has been released on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court this Thursday, when he'll have to (pardon the expression) face the music.
