Toronto alt-rock godfather Bill Priddle has kept a relatively low profile since leaving Treble Charger back in 2003. He will always be highly regarded for writing "Red", easily one of the best Canadian songs of the 90's.

Since then, he has played with Broken Social Scene (on stage and on their masterpiece You Forgot It In People), as well as Hamilton-area band Don Vail.

Bill is ready to jump back into the spotlight with his new band The Priddle Concern. Priddle made their debut record with help from members of BSS and Stars and it will be released this spring by Sparks Music.

The Priddle Concern have been preparing their live show in anticipation of the record release with a residency at The Supermarket. The band includes Scott Remila (Raising The Fawn), Mitch Bowden and Dave Dunham (both from Don Vail).

I attended the first "live rehearsal" (as Bill called it from the stage) last Tuesday. A small but appreciate crowd seemed to really enjoy the new band and their songs. I was eagerly anticipating a set-closing rendition of "Red" but alas, a Kinks cover had to suffice. A different Priddle-penned Treble Charger song found it's way into the set, but one from a more recent TC record.

Overall, it's great to see Bill back in action. Any fan of early Treble Charger material should enjoy the remaining residency shows.
