Toronto now has an Instagram film festival

Lights, camera, Instagram. That's right, the Toronto International Film Festival is teaming up with Instagram to present the TIFFxInstagram Shorts Festival.

Filmmakers can submit 60-second (or less) video clips on Instagram using the hashtag #TIFFXINSTAGRAM. But that's not enough to enter this juried competition - you also have to fill out an online submission form.

You have from today until July 20 to get your digital short on Insta. Afterwards, TIFF programmers will select 30 finalists that'll go up on TIFF's Instagram account and website between August 8 and 17 - the short with the most like will win the Fan Favourite Award. And a six person jury will select the Judge's Choice Award.

This jury includes high-profile directors such as Ava DuVernay (Selma) and Canadian Xavier Dolan (I Killed My Mother, Mommy) along with illustrator and animation artist Rachel Ryle and music video director Nabil Elderkin as well as two others who have yet to be announced.
