4th Toronto Arab Film Festival

The Toronto Arab Film Festival runs today till the 24th ... and I feel like an idiot for getting this post in late. Sorry guys, it's been really hectic these past couple of weeks with the heat and wedding, my crazy aunt ... ok ... refocus.

Screening at both the NFB @ Richmond and John and the Bloor Cinema @ Bloor and Bathurst, this year's festival is host to 9 features and 21 shorts. Most entries are homegrown with some international imports hailing from Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, USA, Morocco, Jordan and Australia.

Tickets are $10 with Students getting a slap on the wrist of $5 per screening.

What am I excited to screen? The Closing Night Gala screening of ALEXANDRIA from Cannes Lifetime Achievement Award director Youssef Chahline. As per the TAFF website, the film was supposed to premier in New York, but was censored at the last moment due to its critique of America. As the Washington Post explained, "it's a cinematic divorce paper."

Now don't you want to go see it? You still can, check the website www.taff.ca for more details.
