The Other Shop Crawl

The fashion writers on blogTO are not the only ones who love a good shop crawl... some chicks in Toronto are starting a shop crawl party that is a like a treasure hunt on heels. Businesses all along Queen Street West pitch into the festivities with deals for crawlers and even a post-crawl pizza party... and of course, prizes for dedicated shoppers.

Ryerson student and internet entrepreneur Ali De Bold created the event as a way to meet members of her online community, Chick Advisor. Her site is all about chicks recommending their favourite stores and products to eachother, so naturally her community loves shopping a lot.

Even though it is that time of year where summer sales have been picked over and exhausted, and the fresh fall stuff is not quite here yet, the crawl was still a lot of fun. Some crawlers made happy finds in participating stores, like cute tops from Kazuo and funky jewelry from Fashion Crimes, and everyone got beauty product gifts from Kiehl's and others. Even people like me who did not find anything to buy had a great time meeting new friends, enjoying tasty food and beers at Milestone's, and talking about... what else... fashion and chick stuff.

The event was such a success that future Shop Crawl parties are worth looking forward to. Keep an eye on Anita's regular shop crawl feature on blogTO to find out when.
