The top 5 beer events in Toronto this fall

Toronto might cool down in the fall, but when it comes to beer events, things are just heating up. For this upcoming season, Toronto Beer Week is the main attraction and alendar highlights include a three-day long festival devoted to cask-aged beer as well as our city's second all-ladies beer fest.

Here are my picks for the top beer events in Toronto this fall.

The Golden Tap Awards (Beerbistro, Sept. 22)
This award show caps off Toronto Beer Week. It's happening at Beerbistro and the event will recognize outstanding craft beer, breweries, beer bars and brewpubs in Ontario.

Six Hours in the 6ix (Coronation Park, Sept. 24)
Explore Toronto's craft beer scene with the Craft Beer Randonnee Cycling Challenge that has beer lovers biking through the six to sample beer on a route that runs from Coronation Park to Rainhard Brewing Co. Registration is free and open now, but you'll need to buy a beer tasting passport for $20.

Cask Days (Evergreen Brick Works, Oct. 21-23)
Get your fill of unfiltered, unpasteurized, naturally carbonated beer at the 12th annual Cask Days Beer Festival held the third weekend of October. It first started in 2005 on the patio at Bar Volo, and now this showcase of diverse, experimental beers is among the largest cask festivals in North America.

Society of Beer Drinking Ladies Beer Fest (TBA, Nov. 5)
Tickets are available now for September's Beer Bevy, but the marquee festival happening in November should be on every lady beer enthusiast's radar. Tickets go on sale October 1, details TBA.

Hoppy Holidays (Berkeley Church, Dec. 6)
The fall season wraps with this holiday pre-party featuring seasonal brews, one-off creations, and yuletide beer cocktails. Tickets go on sale on September 15 for $25 in advance, or $35 at the door, and will include five sample vouchers.

Thanks to Big Rock Brewery for sponsoring this post.
