Shocking video appears to show car chase involving stolen Toronto EMS vehicle

Toronto Police arrested the alleged driver of a stolen emergency vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, and a video has emerged that appears to show a shocking pursuit through city streets.

Police report that the incident occurred at Spadina and Dundas just after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when a Toronto Paramedic supervisor's vehicle was stolen. Police allege that the driver fled westbound on Dundas before the vehicle was eventually located with minor damage, and a male was placed in custody.

Just over half an hour after police tweeted their report on the incident, another Twitter user replied with what appears to be a dashcam video of the chase.

The video, which has not been independently verified by blogTO, aligns with the timeline provided by TPS, showing a paramedic supervisor vehicle barrelling along Church Street with its emergency lights flashing.

A full account of the pursuit has not been shared by police, however, the vehicle was stolen at Spadina and Dundas, was seen travelling through the Church and Gerrard intersection, and was finally apprehended at Dundas and Victoria.

The theft has people wondering how the male driver managed to get access to the paramedic vehicle.

It's just another shocking story that has people comparing the GTA to the video game franchise it shares an acronym with (Grand Theft Auto) to illustrate the increasingly brazen criminal activity in Toronto.

While nobody was injured in the incident, the emergency vehicle sustained minor damage including a flat front left tire and minor damage including dings and dents on the driver side.
