Toronto-area transit station completes major renovation with lots of upgrades

Construction work at Bramalea GO Station has finally wrapped after multiple phases of improvements and years of planning to make it easier for those in Peel Region to connect with other stops on the Kitchener Line.

Some of the major upgrades include a brand-new accessible station building, a parking garage with over 2,000 spaces, and a new bus loop with 18 new platforms for GO Transit and Brampton Transit.

Other amenities at the upgraded station include new passenger pick-up and drop-off zones, covered bicycle parking, an emergency call system, improved lighting, and more than 100 cameras for enhanced security.

Exiting the station northbound to Bramalea Road has also been streamlined, with a new exit directly from the parking garage leading to the signalized intersection.

For the first time ever, Züm (Brampton Transit's rapid bus service) now has a stop inside the GO Station, which will allow customers to make seamless connections between transit services.

"With an estimated 12,200 daily riders using Bramalea GO by 2041, this station is a key transit hub for families, commuters and businesses in Brampton and across the Greater Golden Horseshoe," said Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation.

The brand-new parking structure also boasts several new upgrades, including a partially-covered solar panel roof, motion-activated interior lighting, and an intuitive car counting system to save you time when searching for a parking spot.

The province estimates that 131,400 people and 152,700 jobs will be located within five kilometres of Bramalea GO Station by 2041.
