It's going to feel like -4C in Toronto this week with a chance of snow

I sincerely hope you didn't pack away your winter gear for the season yet, because the cold weather Toronto loves to hate is staging a return.

Atypically chilly temperatures are expected to hit the city this week after nearly a full month of summer-like spring weather, but it will happen in an all-too-typical fast and furious fashion.

Our rollercoaster weather ride begins on Tuesday, if meteorologists are correct, when temperatures plummet by nearly 15 C in less than 24 hours.

With a high of 15 C in the forecast for Monday, the week will start off nicely before a strong cold front sinks south and mucks it all up.

Arctic air is expected to pool over the region on Tuesday, according to The Weather Network, bringing temperatures down to feel like only -4 C.

Meanwhile, a storm system brewing just below us, in the U.S., could translate into snow for parts of Southern Ontario.

"As the potent cold front stalls south of the U.S. border on Tuesday, a new wave of low pressure will develop and track eastwards," explains the Weather Network.

"This new low will tap into a bit of moisture, which will wrap back into the cold air in place, producing a band of snowfall that will track into the Great Lakes Tuesday night though Wednesday, eventually reaching eastern Ontario and southern Quebec."

Experts say the system could bring between 5 and 10 cm to areas along the 401 corridor, but it's not clear exactly how much snow we'll be seeing in the GTA yet this week.

Any snow is too much snow, in my humble opinion, especially in the midst of a provincewide shutdown.
