toronto ferry lineups

Huge lineup brought chaos to Toronto's ferry terminal this weekend

Toronto was blessed with gorgeous weather this past Easter long weekend. It seemed like everyone was outside on patios or in parks from Friday to Sunday. Many also ventured to the Toronto Islands, but they may not have found peace and quiet.

That's because thanks to Centreville's Easter Eggstravaganza egg hunt, as CityNews reports, hundreds waited in long lineups at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal to make the quick journey across Lake Ontario.

As Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation spokesperson Mathew Cutler told CityNews, as of 2 p.m. on Friday, 14,000 people had taken a ferry.

Tickets to the Easter egg hunt included a ferry ticket. Last year, those hoping to escape to the Islands could buy ferry tickets via Ritual, which helped quash wait times.
