New in Toronto real estate: Core Modern Homes

Core Modern Homes is the new development coming to Eglinton Ave. E. in fall 2014. Located close to Leaside and the hub of activity that is Yonge and Eglinton, this smaller scale townhouse development should appeal to those who've grown out of condo living but don't need a huge amount of space. The modern design is about as minimalist as it gets, featuring a grey brick and dark wood faรงade. There's ample use of natural lighting with large and angled windows (word to the wise potential buyer, start looking for a window cleaner!) and some key outdoor space in the form of an upper deck.

With upper-middle-class families in mind, all seven homes will feature three bedrooms (bachelors get back to Yonge and Eligible), parking space, and some outdoor space for summer barbecuing.

THE VERDICT

Core Modern Homes scores points for making a good use of its key corner location. It's the kind of development that's easy on the eye, and if you already own in the vicinity, this development could help to revalue your old property. Yay!

Despite not being detached, these units do offer just about everything a modern family would need. As far as entertaining goes, there's spacious built-in cabinetry, wood fireplaces, subtle ceiling lighting and a full chef's kitchen (i.e. high end appliances). While not astonishingly luxurious, there's a certain appeal in how understated everything is. That said, a double car garage would've been nice!
