Snow art in Toronto

Yesterday we had a look at the dazzling ice formations along the Toronto waterfront, so today it's time for a little fun with snow. Obviously snowmen and women are the chief form that these mostly impromptu sculptures take, but lately I've noticed people getting a bit more creative in their character selection. Not satisfied with the classic three-sphere/blob model, these "snow artists" can do some pretty remarkable things with frozen precipitation, from life-like figures to dinosaurs to snoetry.

Although we mostly dodged the last crushing snowstorm predicted to hit the city, there's been a steady enough supply of powder to foster a small collection of snow art around Toronto. Not all of it is included here, but what follows is a round up of some of the best stuff in the blogTO Flickr pool so far this year. Lead photo by Maryam S.
