Retrontario has put together an awesome collection of vintage Christmas and holiday commercials on his YouTube channel, and because the festive spirit has yet to hit me, it seems like the right time to share a few of the better ones. I don't remember all of them, but some of these are absolute classics for reasons both comedic and nostalgic.

I originally titled this post "Vintage Toronto holiday commercials," but one thing that's pretty obvious when browsing the collection is the degree to which such inclusive terminology and had yet to take root in the mid 1980s, the period from which these derive. No, at the time, Christmas retained its ubiquity, though one might hear the occasional "season's greetings." And along with the production quality and the overall style of these videos, this only ads to their dated feel.
