What's happening in the GTA (and sometimes beyond):

Is harmonizing the PST and GST [CityNews] a good idea for Ontario, during these trying economic times? In general, doing so would represent a windfall for the government, tax breaks for businesses, and price hikes across the board for consumers (which is not exactly stimulus for consumer-level spending).

Politics are sometimes dirty, but when the police get involved it, benevolent rivalry becomes a whole other beast. Toronto police are investigating alleged hacking of the Ontario Liberal party's website by a former Ontario Progressive Conservative party staffer [G&M].

In somewhat related news, the difference between a .ca and .com domain can be great [CTV]. One takes you to a Liberal party political effort, while the other takes you to Black, Indian, Latina, Asian, & Interracial Porn Links). Oooopsies. Someone didn't think this one through.

While cupcakes have been all the rage of late, some sick f**k has gone and made anti-freeze an ingredient in chocolate cupcakes, and left the irresistible (and poisonous) treats for unsuspecting dogs to eat in a park in Port Perry [G&M].

It looks like we'll finally see some serious response from our provincial government to the blatant and infuriating Ticketmaster/TicketsNow gouge. Although Ticketmaster has in principal agreed to not make tickets available on TicketsNow until after they've been offered on Ticketmaster, and agreed to not directly link buyers from Ticketmaster to TicketsNow, the government is saying that's not enough - they want TicketsNow to stop selling Ontario event tickets entirely [Sun].
