Megabins Get Stuffed

Hurray!

Spacing reports today that Eucan's monolithic trash bins are done. Props to the fine folks at the Toronto Public Space Committee and everyone who wrote their councillors in protest of the worst garbage disposal/advertising money-grab ever. The megabin is no more.

However, to get rid of the ones that are already uglifying our streets, your councillor has to officially request their removal. So send a note to your rep, or phone them, and ask them to replace the Eucans with regular bins.

Otherwise we have to wait until the whole Street Furniture thing is done, and who knows how many years that will take. The TPSC is a little concerned about it - but the end of megabin is certainly a promising precedent.
