"The Beach" It Is

Yep, according to the first popular vote on the subject, it seems the people of Toronto east-end Beach/Beaches community have chosen, "The Beach" as the area's official title.

The choice wasn't a landslide vote though, as you might imagine.

According to the CBC, "After weeks of voting in a number of local locations, 2,200 residents and visitors to Toronto's historic east-end lakeshore neighbourhood have chosen to officially adopt the name The Beach, by 58 per cent, over The Beaches."

While the new street signs will be made to reflect the decision, don't expect anyone to change their mind. 42% of the neighbourhood is still likely to refer to home as "the Beaches" for years to come.
