High-end restaurant in Toronto slammed with 17 infractions by health inspectors

A luxurious seafood restaurant in Toronto was recently flagged by health inspectors after they found a staggering list of infractions.

Yu Seafood, located at 3401 Dufferin St. Unit 601A, received a conditional pass notice on Oct. 6 after inspectors detected 17 infractions — five crucial, eight significant, and four minor.

The seafood restaurant chain also boasts another location in Richmond Hill, however, it was its restaurant in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre that was recently served the conditional pass notice.

The restaurant offers "luxurious Chinese seafood cuisine" and next-level dim sim sum, using a combination of traditional cooking methods paired with modern techniques.

On the high end, the restaurant serves up a whole French turbot or Japanese A5 wagyu tampayaki for $168, and a three-course Peking duck for $138.

The crucial infractions involved failing to ensure that the food handler washed their hands as necessary to prevent food contamination, storing ice in an unsanitary manner, and failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

The significant infractions included using equipment not free from cracks in contact with food, as well as using a dirty towel for cleaning the food contact surface. Most of the minor infractions involved sanitary conditions in the food-handling room.

The full list of infractions is available on the DineSafe website

Although the restaurant received a long list of infractions, it will remain open for service as staff diligently work through all of the issues raised by inspectors during their last visit.
