Stalled condo on Queen East might finally be completed

The half-finished shell of a condo that's lay mostly dormant at Queen and Pape for over half a decade might actually be completed thanks to the recent sale of the building to a developer. What were once supposed to be the Film Studio Lofts will now be known as the Lofts on Queen, as Kartelle, a mid-sized local company, snatched up the property after a legal battle derailed the former owner's plans to finish the languishing project.

There's already been some progress made in cleaning up the site, which the removal of scaffolding, replaced insulation and, of course, new signage installed around the base of the building. Rose and Thistle, the previous owner, had pegged April 2014 as a completion date when it purchased the building back in 2012. While Kartelle doesn't have concrete closure date set (the sale doesn't close until June), it's actually possible that work could be finished within a year. One imagines that sure would make the neighbouring businesses and Leslieville residents happy.
