Another salvo is fired in the Toronto graffiti wars

It looks like the Toronto graffiti writers aren't taking City-led eradication efforts sitting down. The above photo, which was posted by a Reddit user yesterday, seems to depict a little bit of painted payback on the municipal logo to the side of the Gardiner Expressway. And, no, I'm not condoning this. In fact, assuming that this is indeed a response to the crackdown, action of this nature is almost surely destined to be counterproductive in that it'll just piss off the graffiti cops even more. Not only that, but it gives the artists working on legal murals a bad name.

But here's an interesting question not related to the graffiti good/bad argument. Given that the vandalism is on public rather than private property, no removal notice or threat of fine can be doled out by the City. So, how long will it remain in place? The countdown is on.
