Your Jerrold-less morning news roundup for Tuesday January 8th, 2008:

Remember when you thought "Man, that parking ticket I got is total bull poo!" Well, it might non-literally be actual bull poo! Should the Municipal Parking Authority really have any authoritah, at all?

Canadians to get taxed for their carbon emissions? "That sounds like a liberal idea," to Canadian Environment Minister John Baird.

A pedestrian chased down and tackled a man who hit a 6 year old girl as she was getting off the streetcar, brought him back to the scene and held him until police arrived.

I missed out on the whole Toronto megacity shiz while I was in Montreal (and we were going through our own megacity shiz). Toronto's ten-year anniversary recently passed, and what has it got to show for all the hullabalooza?

Tim's post on Amber MacArthur checking out of Citytv has sparked a back and forth discussion between Amber and a senior Rogers executive in the comments section. Ambz, if you wanna start a show with me we can call it "Amber (Mac) Alert". I'm totally trademarking that right now, btw.

Flu cases are on the rise this year, with two deaths reported so far. An elderly 69-year-old woman died, as well as a 26 year old woman which shows that unlike what some people like to believe, anyone is at risk of not only getting the flu but passing it along as well, even if they don't show symptoms. Consider getting vaccinated next year if you didn't this year.
