GTA Kids Have Brains, Apparently

According to a new Fraser Institute Study on Elementary Schools in Ontario, most GTA schools, and students, scored above average.

Scores on reading writing and arithmetic are up, and the gender gap on learning ability is closing all across the city

In fact, three schools (Denlow, Senica Hill and Kennedy) have maintained their perfect score for five years now. Of the 37 top-rated schools, 24 are in the GTA, with 16 in the city of Toronto itself.

Good news for a lot of people. Kids are learning, parents are happy, and politicians are clapping each other on the back. Or at least you'd think so. According to this article, Education Minister Kathleen Wynne issued a statement saying the Frasier Institutes's method of evaluation through standardized testing is not the most effective way to gauge success.

Strange, I thought that's how they did it in school?
