Byte Club Turns Its Cameras on the Toronto Tech Scene

It's only been half a month since they launched, but already Toronto-based Byte Club has racked up four episodes profiling the local tech scene. The latest one (embedded below), just released today, looks at DemoCamp, tops in our reader poll of the Best Unconferences in Toronto.

So far, so good for Byte Club. The style of the shows remind me a bit of Mahalo Daily. They're well edited and the host has the needed spunk. I'll be watching closely though for a bit of surprises beyond the predictable profiles. The local tech scene can sometimes be a bit incestuous with the same people and companies being profiled time and again.

Not to single out the well-loved Joey DeVilla, but he's already in three of the four Byte Club episodes. The Unspace guys are in two of them. To their credit, both Joey and Unspace have their fingers in a lot of pies, so the onus really is on Byte Club to think more broadly about who they decide to feature so there's a bit more variety.

Incidentally, Byte Club is published by a company called Lifeforce Entertainment which also created the web series The Men's Room.
