Toronto launches its 2026 World Cup marketing campaign to mixed fan reaction

FIFA has released its marketing campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup which is set to be hosted across North America.

The event will make its way to Toronto and Vancouver during its stay in Canada, with local games being played at BMO Field.

Toronto unveiled its hype video yesterday, showcasing how the sport brings the city together. 

Their marketing campaign focuses on the slogan, "We are Toronto," a similar phrase to the one the Raptors adopted when they won in 2019.

At the end of the video, Toronto's official logo appears on the screen. The bold number 26 sits beneath the world cup trophy, coloured with lime green and blue.

Canada has qualified for just two world cups. The first being in 1986, when we suffered three losses, five goals against, and barely had a shot on target.

Our second run at the beautiful game was just last December where starlet Alphonso Davies netted a pair in the group stage, giving Canada their first taste of scoring on the highest stage.

For the 2026 World Cup, the number of teams has been expanded from 32 to 48, potentially giving locals the chance to watch more than the 5 promised games in their backyard.

Canada will automatically qualify for this year's world cup as all host nations do. Go get some team Canada swag, paint your face and get ready to head over to BMO Field is just a few years.
