Thousands packed a Toronto park to sing tribute to Leonard Cohen
What better way to pay tribute to the legendary Canadian singer, song-writer and poet Leonard Cohen than to gather around and belt out some of his most well-known songs? That's exactly what thousands of Torontonians did last night at Christie Pits park.
Choir! Choir! Choir! organized the event, which filled the park with fans of all ages. They held candles and sang songs like "So Long Marianne" and of course, "Hallelujah." Lemon Bucket Orchestra even made a surprise appearance.
Earlier this year at the annual Luminato Festival, Choir! Choir! Choir! and Rufus Wainwright packed the Hearn with singers to record an epic and moving version of Cohen's "Hallelujah."
Last night's tribute, seemed much more low-key.
