Stars @ Lee's Palace

On Thursday night I was treated to the first of many sold out Stars shows at Lee's Palace.

Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan were in top form this night, blasting out the crowd favorites with all the exuberance we've come to expect from these Canadian indie rock superstars. The only disappointment was the lack of new material, but the set was lively and tight, plus a few subtle variations on old favorites and a cover of Fairytale of New York by The Pogues, left everyone more than satisfied.

Campbell, who is known for his long winded mid-set speeches, reminded us more than once that the holidays are a time for love, sex and above all else, forgiveness. Rarely is a song dedicated to "the one you hate the most". Amy Millan was looking as vivacious as ever, and used her hips like only she can to seduce the crowd into fits of screaming and dancing.

Four sold out shows left. I recommend returning those holiday gifts and selling your soul to get a ticket.
