Ontario man loses it over person talking in quiet zone of GO Train

Commuting in and out of Toronto for work via GO Transit can be a stressful experience, as evident by a recent viral clip that shows a man completely going off on another passenger for having a meeting in the train's quiet zone.

The video, which has made rounds on social media and amassed roughly 50,000 views on TikTok, shows a man yelling profanities at a commuter for speaking in the designated quiet area

"Why don't you do your meeting down f*cking stairs?" the man yells. "I'm standing up for all these people here."

At least one other passenger begins to stand up for the man, and according to the original poster, the person who was complaining responded, "You're turning me on when you talk to me like that."

The quiet zone is located on the upper level of all GO trains during rush hour, on Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to GO Transit's website, short and quiet conversations are permitted in the zone, but electronics, including cellphones, tablets, and laptops should be muted. Headphone volumes should also be low enough that other passengers on the train cannot hear it.

Has anyone else noticed an increasing number of people not adhering to the go trains “quiet zone” lately?

While some folks thought the passenger was taking the rules of the quiet zone too seriously, others stressed that commuters should respect the rules of the area.

"I agree with him. No need for the bad language, but I share his frustration. It is the quiet zone, and people should respect the GO Train policies," one person wrote.

"It may be the quiet zone, but no one should be spoken to this way, what's gone wrong with this world?" another comment reads.
