rob ford approval rating

Rob Ford's approval rating continues to fall

Rob Ford isn't quite as teflon-coated as once thought. In the wake of his most recent scandal and a subsequent trip to rehab, the mayor has taken a dive in the polls. Although he remains in third place in the mayoral race according to a Forum Research poll complied yesterday, his approval rating is down to 32 percent, which represents a significant drop from the over 40 per cent he had carried for months lead up to crack tape number two.

That said, Ford isn't exactly out of the mayoral race. Even in the absence of a firm return date and more controversy courtesy of his car being impounded, the incumbent polls at 24 per cent, which trails Tory (27 per cent) and Olivia Chow (36 per cent). While the gap between Ford and Chow might seem rather large, it's about the same as it was in Forum's last poll from the beginning of the month.

Also of note are Doug Ford's numbers. Although it's unclear whether or not he would run in his brother's absence, his approval rating sits at 30 per cent and he polls lower than Rob in the mayoral race at 20 per cent. Could either Ford brother turn these numbers around with some hard campaigning? Yes. So while the picture looks a little bleak for Ford Nation right now, it could very easily change when the mayor returns.
