Morning Brew: Inside workers to vote on final city offer, Library workers stage "read in," no fishing at the waterfront, Gee on Ford voters, & the weekend roundup

Thanks to a decision in the early hours of this morning, Toronto's inside workers will stay on the job for at least two more days ahead of a Wednesday ratification vote on the city's latest contract offer. The Ford administration, still smarting from transit defeats, is already chalking the news up as a victory while the union says no deal has been reached, yet. The proposed new contract, which will be presented at the vote without recommendation, is similar to the one accepted by outside workers last month, providing a 6% pay rise at the cost of the "jobs-for-life" clause.

In other disgruntled employee news, striking library workers from CUPE Local 4948 staged a "read in" at their rally outside the Toronto Reference Library yesterday. Union members encouraged supporters to bring their favourite Canadian book and join the picket line. Wondering what's happening to your library fines during the disruption? As always, Twitter has the answer.

If you're the type of person who likes dangling a rod off the waterfront, you might have to watch out for the cops next time. Apparently fishing from the land is banned by a Federal bylaw, much to the chagrin of Dave Chong who was busted casting a line near Ontario Place. The answer? Get a boat.

Call it linkbait or good timing, but Marcus Gee's "open letter" to those who voted for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has racked up over 1600 comments since it was published on Friday evening. Read at your own risk. In other media news, The Toronto Sun has outdone itself. Does it get any worse that this? (Via Reddit)

After a long closure for renovations, Banh Mi Boys is set to reopen its doors near Queen & Spadina today. Along with new digs, the restaurant will unveil a few new menu items, of which the kimchi fries sound the most intriguing.
