Ford Brothers Radio Show Toronto

Ford brothers to host weekly radio show

This is great news for Rob and Doug Ford supporters and detractors alike; the sibling City Hall duo has signed on to host a weekly radio show on NewsTalk 1010.

In what is sure to be both hilarious and brimming with ammunition (and, possibly, genuinely informative), the mayor and his brother will be on air every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in a time slot currently occupied by Councillor Josh Matlow. As the new hosts of The City, the Fords will be discussing Toronto politics in a much more forthright way than, say, previous on-air stints with a certain now-boycotted broadcaster.

"It's gonna be fantastic. We're gonna educate the people and explain what's going on in the city and they're gonna have a lot of fun every Sunday afternoon," the Mayor told NewsTalk 1010.

His brother echoed those sentiments to the Toronto Sun. "This is our first opportunity ever to get our message out and we're going to talk about stuff throughout the city, what we're doing, what the plans are." What are the odds that there'll be a gaffe or two thrown in for good measure?

Local politicians have typically gone the media route to get messages across (unless you're David Miller, in which case you employ the media and a booming God-like voice over the TTC), and Rob and Doug are certainly not NewsTalk newbies. You can bet you'll hear a lot about why the Fords are great, why subways are great, and only just scant references to the taxpayer, I'm sure. The Fords will be on starting this Sunday, so who's tuning in?
